Coltsfoot is one of the earliest bright yellow Spring flowers. It has the intriguing feature that the flowers open when the sun shines, so adding a burst of colour on a Spring day. It likes a patch of poor bare soil, and is often seen in the bare soil next to a stream, but also in drier places such as the edge of a path.
