Are your wildflowers UK native?

Our wildflower range of UK native wildflowers are propagated on our nursery from UK native seed stocks. We use peat free compost from seed sowing through to final potting.

We do stock a small number of wildflowers that have been introduced in the 17th /18th century and have since naturalised, but we do endeavour to mention this in the description. We grow these because we love them and our customers do too!

Which courier do you use?

We send gifts via Royal mail and our Wildflowers via Parcelforce, using either the 24 or 48 hour express service.

As Gift cards are e gift cards they can be ordered anytime!

Thank you for all your orders.

Do you grow in peat free compost?

Yes we do – Our Wildflowers are propagated from seed in peat free compost, then transplanted into plug plant trays in peat free compost and grown on into pots with peat free compost too! Each of theses stages is a manual process and not mechanical, so we can visually assess each plant through it’s life cycle.

Are you organic and how do you control pests?

Although not certified as Organic, we aim to work with nature and be aware of environmental sustainability. In this respect we use organic pest control, as prevention and control, such as using a soap based spray. We also leave the natural biodiversity of the nursery and our rural surroundings to balance pest control within our ecosystem.

Can I still buy and plant plug plants

We no longer sell wildflower plug plants to customers although they are still part of our propagation technique –

From seed sowing; when the seedlings are large enough they are transplanted into plug trays. Once established, the plug plants are potted to 9cm pots and grown on.

What type of pots do you use?

In 2020 we are pleased to be implementing Kerbside recyclable pots into our 9cm pot range, which are round and Taupe in colour. We aim to continue this move with the 1 litre and 2 litre pots too as the season progresses.

What is your policy on Coronovirus?

We are following the government guidelines, and although we work outdoors we still have access to wash hands, use hand sanitiser and clean tools/surfaces regularly.
We have also changed our delivery choice to a 24hour non signed for service via Parcelforce, whereas we usually opt for their signed for service.

How many wildflower plants should I plant and when can I plant?

We recommend 6 plug plants / m2 and 3 pots /m2 . They can be planted anytime the ground isn’t frozen or waterlogged, although the best time for planting depending on location will be March – October. Wildflowers are generally perennial and hardy.

When can I expect my plants if some of the order is on back order?

We would usually send the whole order together once the back ordered plants are ready. We do not usually send a split delivery.

Do you let let me know when my order will be delivered?

We send an email when the order leaves our nursery and you will receive a text from Parcelforce on the day of delivery.

Please do add a mobile number at checkout so you receive the text update from Parcelforce. They will advise you of their expected delivery window which is an hourly slot. There is also the option to redirect the delivery to a local post office, a neighbour or to change the day.

How do you package your plants when shipping?

We carefully package our plants for transport, being as eco friendly as possible. We use local hay and recycled cardboard as much as we can so an order will arrive to your door in the best condition, within 24 -48 hours of leaving our nursery.

Can I still buy and plant plug plants (Autumn 2020)

We have plug plants under each individual wildflower. They are gradually coming back into stock as they grow on.

We recommend planting larger numbers of plugs – our collections – in Spring/Autumn as it is cooler, they may not need as much water and there is still plenty of daylight therefore they will establish better. It is fine to plant small numbers of plug plants all year round if they can be watered as required.
